Seema Malhotra MP has committed to supporting CAFOD's Power To Be campaign, which calls on the World Bank to dedicate more energy expenditure on renewable energy sources so that everyone has access to electricity whilst tackling poverty and suffering.
Seema said: "I am proud to support CAFOD’s Power To Be campaign. All children should have access to electricity, allowing them to reach their full potential. Renewable energy sources can transform lives; it gives access to purified water, allows farmers to irrigate crops, nurses can keep vaccines cold and children can study after dark." Only three per cent of World Bank funding currently goes to renewable energy resources. CAFOD is targeting the World Bank to call for further funding to be spent on these renewable energy sources.
