Petition on School Funding

SM_cold_corridor_standing.JPG

I am writing to the Chancellor and Secretary of State for Education Government to ask the Government to reconsider proposals for school funding following the Budget announcement. I am working with Brentford and Isleworth MP Ruth Cadbury on this issue which we are raising in Parliament.

Could you put your name to the letter below?

Dear Rt Hon Justine Greening

I am writing to raise my concerns about the impact of the Government's proposed National Funding Formula.

Our schools are finding themselves in the difficult position of having to deal with greater pressures on their budgets due to inflation, increased employer national insurance contributions, the impact of the apprenticeship levy and the rising minimum wage.

I am writing to ask the government to invest more funding in schools, and in particular to provide an additional £335m per year (1% of the DfE’s schools budget) to ensure no school loses funding as a direct result of the implementation of the National Funding Formula. Our children deserve the very best education and this will make a huge difference.

I look forward to your reply.

Yours sincerely
