Today, at the Market Research Society Launch of the Diversity and Inclusion Industry Report Seema Malhotra MP was a keynote speaker. Ms Malhotra MP said the report's evidence, which showed discrepancies based on sex and race, "is vital if we want a better society where we are all treated more fairly."
The research, conducted by Lightspeed, found that women account for 49% of management positions in the market research industry.
Seema Malhotra MP continued by saying that, “we each need to be leading edge in how we view gender and ethnic equality, but we also need that to have a broader political impact.”
Seema Malhotra MP, alongside Nicky Morgan MP, also had the privilege to present the The President's medal to Dr Fletcher Tembo. The award which is awarded annually to an organisation or individual that has made an extraordinary contribution to research, went to Making All Voices Account which is an NGO supported by both Dfid in the UK and USAid.
The organisation aims to support effective democratic governance in Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, the Philippines, South Africa and Tanzania amongst others. The award was made for its research, evidence and learning programme which is led by the Institute of Development Studies. In this program it is building a unique base of evidence on the technology that works for listening to the citizen voice and encouraging transparency and accountability.
